The end of Velvet Revolver(?)
They sure look happy here, no?
Sorry Turku, Finland!
Heavy metal supergroup Velvet Revolver has cut short a European summer tour, skipping out on previously scheduled gigs in Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Finland. The tour will now end July 2 in London for the big Live 8 benefit.
But the band -- who played St. Paul in April -- aren't breaking up. That's what their publicist said, anyway, citing "family obiligations" and "pre-production work" on the band's second album as the reasons for canceling the shows. She also added that "Scott is not back on drugs," referring to VR's notoriously addled lead singer Scott Weiland.
To be clear, the band is still slated to play across Europe this month, followed by a brief U.S. headlining jaunt in August and a handful of OzzFest dates (that take place after OzzFest stops at Float-Rite Park Aug. 7). And as Slash told me in April, the band hopes to have that sophomore disc out by the end of the year. And Slash wouldn't lie, now would he?
