I saw the Rolling Stones in St. Paul at the old Civic Center in the early 1980's. I thought it was headed towards a curiosity act at that time. I remember driving up from Northfield and enjoying a steak dinner before hand with a college buddy at Mancini's. Mick was definitely entertaining in the same genre as the old Elvis or the Las Vegas Liberace ... he got way up high on a cherry picker and danced, sang and clapped holding a microphone. (This was before headset mikes.) But this band was old then. This new tour seems ridiculous particularly as an arena show at $100+ per ticket. Can't everyone just appreciate what's new and great in music culture without dragging out these oldie acts from the middle of the last century? I guess it's a testament to modern medicine and their nouveau clean living that the Stones are still rolling but they are taking up the resources, time and attention of much worthier musical groups. To the Stones and the thousands of consumers who will pay millions to watch this show ... please stop, look, and listen what is going on today!
